Craig first joined the Epping Eye Surgery (EES) in 1996 after completing ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital (SEH) and then further fellowship studies in Toronto, Canada. In 2004 he was a founding member of the Epping Surgery Centre (ESC) and remains Chairman of the Board.

 

He is Head of the Strabismus (ocular misalignment) and Paediatric Ophthalmology Unit at SEH and is a VMO at Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH) and a senior staff specialist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW). He was formerly Director of Training of Registrars at SEH and continues to teach cataract and strabismus surgery. He was the

President of the Australia and New Zealand Strabismus Society for 6 years.

 

Craig has an extended interest in general ophthalmology with particular expertise in the management of cataract, strabismus and paediatric eye disease. Craig has authored many papers and presented at numerous Australian and overseas conferences to ophthalmologists, orthoptists, optometrists and ophthalmic nurses.

 

He is currently the NSW State Branch Treasurer, a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology (RANZCO) Council and is an Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB) representative. He is a member of the Prince of Wales Hospital/Sydney Hospital/ Sydney Eye Hospital Clinical Council. Craig has maintained a strong and respected profile within ophthalmology and has been on numerous other College and hospital and international committees. From 2011 until 2018 he was the external examiner for the Hong Kong College of Ophthalmology. Craig has worked in third world countries over many years developing regional ophthalmic expertise.

 

In 2019 he was recognised for his services to medicine and ophthalmology in Australia and overseas by receiving a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) and the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology award for Prevention of Blindness in Asia.
