About Dr Leahy

General Ophthalmology, Cataract and Paediatric Ophthalmology

Dr Kate Leahy is an ophthalmologist with expertise in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and paediatric ophthalmology.


Dr Kate Leahy graduated in 2010 from the University of Newcastle and completed her postgraduate training at Royal North Shore Hospital together with a Masters degree in Ophthalmic Science at the University of Sydney. She completed her ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital in 2019 and was awarded the Filipic Greer Medal for the highest mark in the national ophthalmic pathology examination.


In 2019, she took up a fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada and was awarded the Dr Robert Pashby Award for medical and professional excellence and the greatest potential to be a great teacher. Dr Leahy enjoys training medical students and registrars and is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney. She is actively involved in research and has presented and published in Australia and internationally.


Dr Leahy is a Staff Specialist at Sydney Eye Hospital and a Visiting Medial Officer at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
